Have been a religious fan of the innovations Google brings in and the way it becomes a part of our daily lives Viz. making search easier, making file management easier, making translation easier and so much more. Think of this ‘looking-up for a plumber near your home to fix a leaking sink in the kitchen’ what is the first thing that you do if you are unable to fix it on your own, you pick up your phone, make a search query ‘plumbers near my location’, Google instantly pulls up data across the web and returns us numbers/ locations accordingly.

Google India has been working on making products that are centric to India, keeping in consideration the consumer behaviour, resources available etc. and have made changes in the apps available to Indian consumers so that it gives a better user experience. Like the offline mode in YouTube, live video translations from English to Hindi ideal for sign-boards, information at transit stations, Local bus routes and schedule in maps and much more.

The Google House was split over three rooms: kitchen, living room, study, travel room and “fashion room” and did show some unique applications, ranging from the practical to the niche.

Google Now which is an intelligent personal assistant uses a natural language user interface to answer questions, make recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to a set of web services. Along with answering user-initiated queries, Google Now proactively delivers to user’s information that it predicts (based on their search habits) they may want.

The future is in our pocket right now! 

Not only this, Google Now will also collate data from your phone, schedules and create customized cards for nearby events, send you reminders about your next meeting or flight, will pull out the  boarding passes from e-mails. In addition Google Now would show cards for the weather for upcoming travel destinations, birthday reminders; and monthly summaries of biking and walking activities.

Google Translate Recently launched in Hindi, has an instant translate feature that helps you break through language barriers by instantly translating printed text, like street signs or ingredient lists by opening the app on your phone and pointing your camera at the text. 

Google Photos app which automatically backs up photos and videos across all your devices. With people around the world uploading 1.8 billion photos every day, taking 93 million selfies and more photos being taken every two minutes than the whole of humanity took in the 1800s, it’s just as well that Google Photo offers unlimited, free storage.

Search innovations like faster and lighter search results for people accessing the web from a mobile device with a slow connection like 2G. Voice Search updates to the Google app which has been optimised for English in the Indian accent and in Hindi to make finding answers to your questions faster, easier and more local.

Offline features like the ability to save Maps for times when you might not have a connection. Or YouTube Offline, which gives you a way to watch videos without chewing through all your data — even when you don’t have a connection.

Consumers today want the phone to be as neat as possible, out of the box, really, without all the add-ons, and Google I think has done really well to achieve that.
